Beria’dan

Sigils of the Beria'dan

A new party of young hunters begin their work

You are a newly minted Sigil, a warrior of the Beria’dan. Before you had reached your 20th year some calamity or ill turn found you destitute or in danger. In that time a member of the Beria’dan came to your aid. You then became beholden to train in their ways.

Years passed as you learned how to hunt and kill monsters, serving the Beria’dan in one of three ways. Studying the catalogue of monsters, and the spells and potions to counter them as a Scholar. Or the signs monsters leave behind them, and how to spot their passage as a Tracker. Finally there are those who master a variety of weapons, and most importantly themselves, the deadly Slayers. Each of you Sigils has studied one of these paths.

Now the Council has deemed you fit to make your first hunt. You and your mentor, Sigil Mehil, begin seeking work from those who are in need.

Comments

My name is Egil Magnusson, my father was a dear from of my trainer, Sigil Mehil. My father was a harsh man, he relied heavily on brute force and thought that I should follow in his wake, but I wasn’t so sure that his ways were well suited to me. I began training under Sigil Mehil at a young age, he noticed my talents were not those which my father most valued. Sigil Mehil had seen a number of great warriors die to unknown terrors and reckless pride. Mehil was a man of patience and preparation, and his method was not lost on me. I studied closely under Mehil, learning the value of knowing your opponent and fighting smart, using your opponents weaknesses to undue them. I am a tracker, and I will use my skills to hunt down my father, to bring him back home, and show him that I belong as a Baria’dan.

Excerpts from the briefly confiscated book of Maldrek Reyne:

“I found it, and it has no name.
To understand is to find peace in silence.
I have learned more in that brief glimpse into the void than any man has ever thought to know. There is more life, death…power, weakness…more everything in between the stars.

Stay quiet, and you can hear as well. A faint whisper beckons for those that desire more than our superficial lives. Mankind drowns out what it needs most. From the oaths of those righteous knights, to the insatiable greed of thieves, to the wanton destruction of power-hungry monarchs…they all equate to the same thing; a cacophony that hides the truth.

Yes, truth lies in that which we do not choose to perceive exists!

I was fortunate to stumble across this still truth, and it has blessed me. I yearn for her calling once again.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

I found her at last! She is what binds flesh to soul. She is stronger than the most powerful gods and devils. I must know more! There is so much more, but this noise…

It’s deafening. It needs to stop…STOP! STOP! STOP!

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

I’ve learned that I can communicate without that distaste of language lingering in my mouth. I no longer need to contribute to this wretched dissonance.

The only time one should speak is when truth is apparent. The greatest truths come from her and her alone.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………

There is nothing more to learn alone. I need help from others. Yes, I shall enlighten others to this great truth! We will discover what exactly she is. I’ve heard tales of the Beria’dan, and the influence they have. Could I possibly join their ranks and utilize their tools to further this great endeavor? Time will tell.
